Chutzpah..
We be hatin'..they should be out in force today. The notes that were so wildly reported..."Hi Mom"! The Destination Bayfront meeting crowd started slow but filled up by 6 O'clock. They basically did what you heard on the program Monday morning, then brought up the consultants. Nice pictures of places all over the country, but when they got to a picture of Paris, France I had to pack it in. I don't want to be negative but..Paris, France? The irony in all of this planning, and talking, and planning and slide shows, this was the idea that Bob Rowling had 4 or 5 years ago. His gateway to the bayfront idea, not the amusement park. I have some audio from the meeting for Tuesday morning. We report you decide.
City Councilman Mark Scott in the BOX at 7, we'll talk about the Council agenda, and this: A housing concept popular in the Pacific Northwest and radically different from the typical suburban subdivision could appear in Corpus Christi by fall. Police Chief Troy Riggs in the BOX at 8 the drug raid Friday morning, arrests for DUI down for the Super Bowl, and America's Drunken cities...
What are we to make of the Tea Parties? Is this the beginning of a ........ great awakening? In colonial America, there was a clear distinction between the regal society in England and the less class conscious new World. It led us to place a higher value on moral behavior rather than class. A good thing I think, but we have strayed far from that course have we not?
What do you think of the Tea Parties? A passing fad. A great political awakening. Another political squabble. The birth of a Third Party.
Glenn Reynolds: "America’s prior Great Awakenings, in the 18th and 19th Centuries, were religious in nature. Unimpressed with self-serving, ossified, and often corrupt religious institutions, Americans responded with a bottom-up reassertion of faith, and independence.
This time, it’s different. It’s not America’s churches and seminaries that are in trouble: It’s America’s politicians and parties. They’ve grown corrupt, venal, and out-of-touch with the values, and the people, that they’re supposed to represent. So the people, once again, are reasserting themselves." Phil Blackmar said basically the same thing about people who no longer do anything unless it benefits them or being unwilling to do the right thing simply becasue it's the right thing to do. He's right. It's leadership by example. The only way something can be memorable is if it is shared.

Here's the bottom line for the Super Bowl. This may be why Drew I'm not sure why but this morning I awoke with the strangest urge to kill chickens.....let's get to work. Just guessing here but don't we all know that the hour after the bars close is a dangerous time to be on the road? If you want to stay safe, don't drink or speed...(doh!) and always wear your seat belts. Some days are diamonds, some days the tariffs go thru the roof. The Port to take another look. Speaking of looks, Betty White and Abe Vigoda. Was that the winning commercial at your house? See them all here. It's The Saints, DAT’S WHO! At least with old guys you don't get a wardrobe malfunction but that half time show.... The Who! Stunk on ice. Should be renamed "The What"? Roger Daltrey: Lip sync. The lead singer for The Who has been replaced by a 65-year-old man. Someone call The Police. Seton Motley Communications Director for the Media Research Center just after 6AM. Phil Blackmar in the Box at 8AM. Destination Bayfront Website. Fred Kent and Kathy Madden who work for a company that helps cities carry out concepts for public space use are in the Box at 7. Here's the latest on Destination Bayfront. You have an opportunity to hear them and ask questions today, 5:30, Omni Bayfront Hotel in the Corpus Christi Ballroom.

 Fox Hunting........ha
Early reports were that a natural gas leak could have caused a devastating explosion Sunday morning that killed two and injured as many as 100 at a power plant being built south of the city on the Connecticut River. How the hell did I get here? How am I gonna get home? take the quiz. Massachusetts now has more Republican senators than Montana, North Dakota, Arkansas, and West Virginia. The Vatican gave St. Louis Cathedral permission to take down the Pope's flag and replace it with a Saint's flag today. This came from the Monsignor wearing a Drew Brees jersey after performing a Black and Gold Mass. No link yet..got a call from the mass in Jackson Square this morning. Polls on 18 senate races. Eight of the 10 U.S. Baptist missionaries charged with child kidnapping in Haiti are pleading for help in a letter one of them slipped to a journalist through prison bars. The News of the World reported that the head of the Association de la Santé Pour Tous relief effort in Haiti, Yis Jean Guerson, is selling children for as little as $100. (VIDEO)
Washington, D.C., is buried under 20 inches of snow for the second time in 6 weeks. Unfortunately, unlike cement, snow melts. Maybe that should read fortunately, like our cement, snow melts.
